The IUCN Red List of Threatened Species
Established in 1964, the International Union for Conservation of Nature Red List of Threatened Species (IUCN Red List), serves as a comprehensive inventory detailing the conservation status and extinction risk of various taxa across the world. The accompanying image illustrates the different categories of the IUCN Red List, which guides the prioritisation of conservation efforts both in the wild and within zoos. During your next visit to the Fenn Bell Conservation Project, look out for our signs that indicate the IUCN Red List status of our resident species, and don’t hesitate to speak with our keepers to learn more about our conservation initiatives.
